DHAKA, Nov 17, 2025 (BSS) – Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today said they want the repatriation of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

An International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today sentenced Sheikh Hasina and her cabinet colleague former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Kamal to death for crimes against humanity for ordering a crackdown to suppress last year’s student-led July Uprising.

“We definitely want the repatriation of Sheikh Hasina. We have already sent a letter (to India). If required, we will again send a letter seeking her repatriation,” he said.

The adviser made the remarks while replying to questions from journalists after coming out of a Core Committee meeting on law and order at the Home Ministry in the Secretariat here.

Asked about prevailing panic among the people over crude bomb explosions and arson attacks, the Home Adviser assured people of required measures to check such misdeeds.

“There is nothing to be feared. I don’t see any panic,” he said, adding that several small incidents are happening, but no major incident was occurred.

Jahangir said he arrived in Dhaka from Barishal yesterday (Saturday) by travelling trouble-prone districts, Madaripur, Faridpur and Gopalganj.

“No lager incident was took place in the districts,” he said.

He said those who were involved in arson attacks and crude bomb explosions are being arrested.

Replying to a query, the Home Adviser called upon the media to write accurate news of the incident to fight against the propaganda of a neighbouring country.

Asked about the order of shoot at sight by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) commissioners, Jahangir said the law enforcers have been asked for taking measures for self-protection.

Senior Secretary of Home Ministry said everyone, including the law enforcers, have the rights of self protection across the globe.

“This is nothing new,” he added.
