Divisional inter-school swimming tournament to begin August

DHAKA, June 15, 2025 (BSS)-The 1st Divisional inter-school swimming competition will begin in August at eight divisional venues across the country with the participation of all divisional schools.

This is the first time the Bangladesh Swimming Federation (BSF) has taken a new concept to involve all the divisional school including the English medium schools in swimming. 

Talking to BSS today (Sunday), BSF general secretary Mahbubur Rahman Shaheen said they are going to start 1st Divisional Inter-school Swimming competition which is new concept of the federation.

"We'll send letter to each school of the division requesting to ensure participation of two boys and equal number of girls in the competition ... we also want to involve English Medium schools in the meet so that some boys and girls can come out of it as well," Shaheen said.

The BSF general secretary said they would also take cooperation of some English Medium schools, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education and International School Sport Federation to make the mega event a success.

He said the Dhaka divisional matches would be held at Mirpur swimming complex while the remaining divisional venue matches would be held at their respective venues. 

"Actually, this competition will be a kind of talent hunt. Our main goal is to revitalize schools through this competition, concluded Shaheen.
