DHAKA, June 18, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh senior assistant coach Mohammad
Salahuddin laid emphasize on bowling well to retain the absolute control of
the first cricket Test against Sri Lanka after a late collapse on Day 2 took
the impetus out of Bangladesh innings at Galle International Cricket Stadium
today.

Bangladesh ended the rain-interrupted day on 484-9 as the bad light forced an
early stumps.

Veteran Mushfiqur Rahim (163), skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (148) and Liton
Das (90) played key role in shaping Bangladesh's innings but the visitors
lost five wickets for 26 runs after the rain-break that left the game in
balance for the time being, Salahuddin said.

"It's hard to say that who is in the driving seat at the moment," Salahuddin
told the reporters after stumps.

"The fact is that we didn't do well in the first session yesterday and the
last session today. But we did pretty well apart from those two sessions. We
still have a good total."

He also stressed on winning each sessions to control the things.

"It depends on who is winning each session. We will try to control the match
till the end, by winning each session."

He felt that his side squandered the chance to bat out Sri Lanka from the
match by making poor shot selection late in the day.

"We could have done better at the far end of the day but we played poor
shots. We still have a pretty good total. If we bowl well tomorrow, I think
we can control the game," he said.
