Olympic Day-2025 celebrated in Khulna thru different events

KHULNA, June 24, 2025 (BSS) - The International Olympic Day 2025 was 
celebrated here today through various events like rally, inauguration 
ceremony and a colorful procession with the participation of a large number 
of present and former sportsmen and sports organisations.

Khulna Divisional Sports Association organized the programme with the 
assistance of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA).
 
The inauguration ceremony was held in the premises of Khulna District 
Stadium, where Divisional Commissioner Md. Firoz Sarkar was present as the 
chief guest.

He said, "The Olympic Day would bring momentum to Khulna's sports sector as 
we celebrate it with the participation of all strata of people under the 
sports arena." 

"We need to take urgent steps to make Khulna's sports culture more vibrant. 
There is no alternative to sports to stay healthy. I think more sports events 
should be held in Khulna in the coming days," the Divisional Commissioner 
added.

Firoz Sarkar also emphasized that engaging students in sports is essential to 
keeping them away from drugs and helping them grow into creative and 
thoughtful individuals through involvement in social and extracurricular 
activities.

Additional Divisional Commissioner (Education & ICT) Deb Prasad Pal , Deputy 
Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Land 
Acquisition) Nurul Hai Mohammad Anas, senior journalist and sports 
association member Sheikh Didarul Alam, sports official Asik Hossain Rinku, 
state award-winning athlete Parveen Sultana Lovely, former captain of 
national women's cricket team Salma Khatun, officials from various government 
departments and both present and former athletes were present, among others, 
in the event.

Later, a colorful procession marking Olympic Day started from the stadium 
premises and ended at the same venue after parading different city streets.
