DHAKA, June 24, 2025 (BSS)- Sri Lanka skipper Dhananjaya de Silva appeared to
be unfazed by facing Mehidy Hasan Miraz who is believed to bolster already a
high-flying Bangladesh squad for the second and final cricket Test, starting
tomorrow (Wednesday) in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Miraz missed the first Test in Galle due to his illness as the game ended in
a draw amid Bangladesh's domination. The allrounder would give the side a
required balance that was missing in the first Test, said Bangladesh skipper
Najmul Hossain Shanto.

But when asked whether Miraz, who has been Bangladesh's highest run-getter
and wicket-taker in Test format in the last one year, could pose a threat,
Dhananjaya stayed unfazed.

"I don't think so," he said. "He played in the last couple of Tests when we
toured there [in Bangladesh]. He's performing well for his country, and we
respect that. But I think it's going to be a good game."

Dhananjaya rather laid emphasize of setting the tone with the bat, a thing
that they couldn't do in the first Test. After Bangladesh were bowled out for
495 in the first innings, Sri Lanka conceded 10-run lead by being all out for
485.

"We always talk about big first-innings runs. If we can post a strong total,
the pressure shifts to the opposition," he said. "Then it's about taking 20
wickets to win the match."

The Lankan skipper suggested that the wicket is likely to favour batters
early on before offering something for the spinners in the latter stages.

"It's going to be a batting wicket," he said, adding that the spinners will
get turn and bounce as the game progresses.

"Normally, these kinds of wickets tend to take turns in the last couple of
days. There might be a little bit of spin towards the end of the Test,"
Dhananjaya remarked.
