Olympic Day held

DHAKA, June 24, 2025 (BSS)- The Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) celebrated the Olympic Day 2025 today (Tuesday) as part of the global programme of International Olympic Committee (IOC) to popularize its movement.

The BOA celebrated the "Olympic Day" in the capital and seven other divisions across the country in a benefiting manner with the slogan: "Let's Move".

Mentionable, Olympic Day is celebrated worldwide on June 23 every year to mark the founding anniversary of the IOC.

The BOA organised a grand rally which began from Bangladesh Shishu Academy at 6.30 am and terminated at National Stadium gate no 1 after passing through 
Education Bhaban, Bangladesh Secretariat, Zero Points and General Post Office (GPO).

Chief of Army Staff and BOA President General Waker-Uz-Zaman inaugurated the rally as the chief guest by releasing balloon.

Sports enthusiasts from various military and civilian organisations, including various national-level athletes, coaches, organisers, officials of ministry of youth and sports, National Sports Council and BOA, students and others participated in the rally.

Certificates were distributed among the participants after the rally.

The closing ceremony began with the hoisting of the flags. The national flag was hoisted by the BOA President and Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman while the flag of the IOC was hoisted by the BOA Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza.

The BOA flag was hoisted by Ashikur Rahman Miku, convener of the Olympic Day organising committee and Deputy Secretary General of the BOA.

Later, the chief guest distributed Olympic Day certificates among all the distinguished athletes/Olympians who have participated in the Olympic Games from Bangladesh.
