Cricketers complete preparation with two warm up matches for Sri Lanka ODIs

DHAKA, June 26, 2025 (BSS) - Most of the batters failed to show their real credential as the two-match warm-up series in Chattogram, organized for the preparation of the players who would play the three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka. 

The likes of Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Naim Sheikh, Towhid Hriody and Tanjid Hasan, Naeem Sheikh, Towhid Hridoy, were largely ineffective in the warm-up matches, which were held on Tuesday and Wednesday.

However, Nurul Hasan Sohan, who is not in the Sri Lanka-bound ODI squad got runs in both matches as he scored 97 and 68 runs respectively in the two matches.

In the second match, Shamim Hossain Patwary also got a 50 while Saif Hasan, who was in the limelight, scored 71, Amit Hasan 73 and Yasir Ali Chowdhury 44 runs. Soumya Sarkar scored 40 runs. But none of them are in the ODI team.

The Green Team cruised to a seven-wicket victory over Red Team in the second game.

Batting first in the day-night match, the Red team were bowled out for 230 in 48 overs, a total Green overhauled in just 39.3 overs.

Tanzid Hasan Tamim scored 17 runs for the Red team following his duck in the first match. Naim Shikeh scored 11 while captain Towhid Hriody made 19. In addition, Mosaddek scored a duck, Rishad scored 7 runs.

Sohan scored 68 runs off 85 balls with four fours and a six to lay foundation of the victory. But Siaf Hasan top-scored with 71 runs, hitting five fours and one from 108 balls.

Among the bowlers of the Green team, Tanzim Hasan Sakib grabbed 4-46. He also scalped five wickets in the first match. 

In reply, the Green team's opener Parvez Hossain Emon who made 55 in the first match, scored 16 while Soumya was out for 40. Amit Hasan made 73 while Yasir Ali scored 44 to help the side gun down the target with ease. Patwari contributed in the victory also with quickfire 32 ball-51.

The cricketers will leave Dhaka on June 28 to play the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
