Taskin keen to contribute in Bangladesh’s victory in Sri Lanka ODIs

DHAKA, June 28, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed is keen to make his comeback to ODI series a memorable one by helping the side to win a series against Sri Lanka.

“I want to play an important role in my team's victory,” Taskin said ahead of leaving the country for Sri Lanka. 

“I believe we will win the series. I am very excited. I feel very good to be back to action after three months,” he said.

Taskin last played for Bangladesh in Champions Trophy in February after which he was ruled out due to an injury. 

He has been in a rehab in this period before getting the nod to comeback to action in International cricket.

A total of eight cricketers left the country to play the ODI series against Sri Lanka yesterday. Taskin along with Naim Sheikh left the country today to join the side in Colombo.

Regarding his injury, Taskin said, 'It is very sad for any player to be out of the field due to an injury. It is actually a part of life; especially  for fast bowlers get a lot of injuries.”

“I am elated to be back. I hope I will do something good.”
The ODI series starts on July 2 in Colombo. Bangladesh will play the second match at the same venue on July 5 before moving to Pallekele to play the third and final ODI on July 8.

The three ODIs will be followed by a three-match T20 International series. Bangladesh, however, lost the two-match Test series 1-0.
