Youth hockey team leaves for India

DHAKA, Nov 18, 2025 (BSS)- The national youth hockey team left here today (Tuesday) for India to participate in the Youth Hockey World Cup scheduled to be held in Chennai and Madurai, from November 28 to December 10.
Bangladesh have been pitted in Group F in the twenty-four-team global tournament. The Youth Hockey team will play against strong Australia, South Korea and France in their group phase engagements. Bangladesh is going to take part in the global tournament for the first time.

The youth hockey team is also scheduled to play two warm-up matches against Chile and Switzerland as part of preparation before the World Cup.

Team captain Mehrab Hasan Samin has expressed his determination to show his fighting skills in the Youth World Cup Hockey.

"We will be playing for the country ... we are going to play in the Youth Hockey World Cup for the first time.....we want to do something that will inspire us in the future," said Samin.

Mehedi Hasan of the hockey team could not accompany the team as he was diagnosed with dengue.
