DHAKA, June 30, 2026 (BSS)-Bangladesh endured a humiliating innings and 85-run margin defeat to Zimbabwe in the one-off Test inside three days after putting up a yet another miserable batting display at Harare Sports Club today.
Requiring 230 runs still to avoid an innings defeat, Bangladesh which resumed the Day 3 at 40-1, eventually were wrapped up for 185 giving Zimbabwe its biggest victory in this format, eclipsing their innings and 73-run margin win over Afghanistan last year.
The Test victory against Bangladesh was also their second successive victory at home, after defeating Afghanistan.
Notably victory against Bangladesh is their first at home soil against an established Test nation since their triumph against Pakistan in 2013. In that year, the African nation also won a Test against Bangladesh to draw the two-match Test series.
Zimbabwe posted 410, thanks to opener Innocent Kaia's 140 in its only innings, after Bangladesh were dismissed for just 140 in its first innings..
Bangladesh's second innings was similar to what they demonstrated in the first innings with no batters could put up any significant resistance to make Zimbabwe batting second time in the match.
Bangladesh began the day in disastrous fashion as they lost the wicket of overnight batter Mahmudul Hasan Joy for 22 in the second over of the day when fast bowler Blessing Muzurabani had him caught by Biran Bennett at gully.
Muzurabnai again struck in his immediate next over, by claiming the wicket of Mominul Haque, who was Bangladesh's highest scorer with 60 in the first innings.
With back at the wall, after being left to 46-3, Bangladesh fought back through skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and veteran Mushfiqur Rahim, raising a hope to avoid innings defeat at least.
Fast bowler Newman Nyamhury rattled Shanto's stump for 30 with an inswinging Yorker, putting an end to the 61-run partnership.
Muzurabni who was the pick bowler for Zimbabwe with 4-65 then gave the knock out punch, by dismissing Mushfiqur Rahim for 34 as Bangladesh hope to make Zimbabwe bat again was shattered completely.
Debutant Amite Hasan made a run-a-ball-25 to delay the inevitable.
Captain Richard Ngarava and Nyamhury cleaned up Bangladesh's tail with a rejuvenated bowling show as the visitors lost the last four wickets for 27 runs.
Nagarava finished with 3-32 while Nyamhury who took 4-61 in the first innings ended this innings with 2-28 to cap off a successful Test.
The two sides now meet in a three-match ODI series starting in Harare on July 6, followed by a three-match T20I series in Bulawayo beginning on July 15.
