SAVAR, Aug 4, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque today urged the country's young people to take the lead in building a peaceful, disciplined and humane society by embracing social responsibility, moral values and environmental awareness alongside sports, said a press release.

Speaking as the chief guest at the "Tiger Run 2026" mini marathon organised at Jahangirnagar University to mark World Tiger Day, he said the youth must play a responsible role in preventing anarchy and foster national development.

“The responsibility for nation-building does not rest solely with the university authorities. Every citizen has a duty towards the state and society. We want to build a Bangladesh where peace prevails and no one gets the opportunity to create chaos," the State Minister said.

He said the enthusiasm shown by participants reflected the commitment and sense of responsibility needed to move the country forward, adding that young people would be the driving force behind a healthy and progressive society.

Referring to the objective of the event, Aminul said similar programmes should be introduced at universities across the country to raise awareness about wildlife conservation, the Sundarbans and environmental protection.

He noted that such initiatives go beyond promoting physical fitness, helping instil moral values, social responsibility and humanitarian ideals among young people while encouraging positive social change.

Reaffirming the government's commitment to tackling educated unemployment, the State Minister said emphasis is being placed on skills development, vocational training and greater engagement of young people in social organisations to create sustainable employment opportunities.

"Our goal is to ensure that no educated young man or woman remains unemployed. We are focusing not only on producing graduates but also on equipping them with the skills needed for employment," he said.

Welcoming an initiative by a voluntary organisation to involve around 25,000 volunteers, Aminul described youth participation as essential for national development and building a compassionate society.

Responding to a request from Jahangirnagar University for improved sports infrastructure, he said the government would sincerely consider the proposal after receiving a formal submission from the university authorities.

Thanking the organisers, the state minister expressed hope that such initiatives would continue to inspire young people to engage in constructive activities and contribute to building a humane, developed and prosperous Bangladesh.
