JOYPURHAT, March 5, 2026 (BSS) - The Hinda Kasba Shahi Jame Mosque in Khetlal upazila of Joypurhat stands as a remarkable example of Muslim Mughal-style architecture and has become a symbol of heritage and pride for the district.

Located in Hinda village under Borail union, about 16 kilometers from Joypurhat district town, the mosque attracts attention for its distinctive architectural beauty and artistic design rooted in Islamic tradition.

The mosque was established in 1958 AD (Bengali year 1365) by Pir Abdul Gafur Chishti, popularly known as Bagmari Pir. Construction was carried out under the supervision of Abdul Khaliq Chishti following the design prepared by Chirokumar Pir Abdul Gafur Chishti.

Architecturally, the mosque measures approximately 49.5 feet in length and 22.5 feet in width. A 40-foot-high minaret stands on the northern side of the structure.

The roof features five domes symbolizing the five pillars of Islam, with a large central dome surrounded by four smaller domes at each corner.

The mosque's interior and exterior walls are decorated with intricate designs made from glass pieces, broken porcelain fragments, and mosaic patterns. Various sections of the walls display colorful artistic patterns that add to the mosque's unique visual appeal.

The mosque can accommodate around 300 to 400 worshippers at a time. In recent years, a large entrance gate has been constructed in front of the mosque, and additional arrangements have been made to facilitate prayer in the open front area.

At present, the Hinda Kasba Shahi Jame Mosque is widely regarded as one of Joypurhat's most notable historical and architectural landmarks, drawing admiration from visitors and worshippers alike.
