Boro cultivated on 81,653 hectares of land in Gopalganj

GOPALGANJ, March 25, 2024 (BSS) - A total of 81,653 hectares of land were brought under Boro cultivation in the district during the current Boro season. 

Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Abdul Quader Sardar said, the production target has been set 3, 95,497 tonnes of rice from 81,653 hectares of land in the district this season. 

Boro seeds and fertilizers were given among 70,000 farmers under the agricultural incentive and rehabilitation program free of cost to increase the production and cultivation of Boro paddy in the district, he said. 

The DAE official said Boro paddy was cultivated on 81,229 hectares of land last year. 

Sanjay Kumar Kundu, additional deputy director of DAE of the district said of the total, 20,958 hectares of land were brought under boro cultivation in Sadar upazila, 13,323 hectares of land in Muksudpur upazila, 11,880 hectares of land in Kashiani upazila, 26,617 hectares of land in Kotalipara upazila and 8,575 hectares of land in Tungipara upazila of the district. 

All necessary support was given to the farmers of the district to encourage them for cultivation of Boro paddy, he added.
