5,000 Gopalganj farmers to get incentive for Aush cultivation

TUNGIPARA, Gopalganj, April 5, 2024 (BSS) - A total of 5,000 small and marginal farmers in five upazilas of the district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agricultural incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of Ufshi Aush in the current Kharif-1 season.

To increase the interest of farmers in Ufshi Aush cultivation, the amount of incentive support has been increased significantly in the district, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Abdul Quader Sardar said.

He said that each farmer will get five kgs of Ufshi Aush seeds, 10 kgs of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and five kgs of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for cultivating Ufshi Aush on one bigha of land.

Of the total beneficiaries, 1,000 farmers are in Sadar upazila, 1,000 in Muksudpur upazila, 1,000 in Kashiani upazila, 1,100 farmers in Kotalipara upazila and 900 farmers in Tungipara upazila of the district.

The distribution of the seeds and fertilizers will start very soon under the concerned Upazila Agriculture Office, he said.
