Free seeds, fertilizers distribution programme inaugurated in Tangail

TANGAIL, April 21, 2025 (BSS) - A free jute seeds and fertilizers distribution programme was inaugurated today at Bhuapur upazila in the district to support local farmers and boost jute cultivation.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mst. Popi Khatun formally inaugurated the initiative aroud 11am at upazila parishad hall room, as part of a government effort to enhance jute production in the region.

Under this programme, a total of 2,700 farmers across the upazila, including 75 specially enlisted jute growers, will receive seeds, fertilizers and specialized training on advanced jute cultivation techniques.

The initiative is being carried out under the "Improved Technology-Based Jute and Seed Production and Expansion Project," managed by the Jute Directorate under the Ministry of Textile and Jute.

Deputy assistant jute development officer of Bhuapur, Kamruzzaman Khan moderated the event.

Assistant director of the Narayanganj region, Md. Mizan Uddin; district jute development officer, Mr. Abdur Rahim Siddiqui and upazila additional agriculture officer. Mst. Israt Jahan spoke at the event.
