DHAKA, Feb 21, 2025 (BSS) - Stocks witnessed flat at the last week as investors continued to take positions on certain speculative and December-closing scrips while also booking profits from the recently appreciated holdings to rebalance their portfolios.

Despite the market witnessing a positive vibe in the beginning of the week riding on investors' buying interest on selective blue-chip scrips, selling pressure emerged later as investors opted to realize their short-term gains, causing the market to experience a slowdown in its recent positive momentum.

However, buyers regained momentum in the last hour of the final trading session, leading the benchmark index to experience almost full recovery by the end of the week.

DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, lost 1.1 points to settle at 5,200 points.

Investors participation in the market also increased by 11.6% to Taka 4,703 million as against Taka 4,214 million in the previous week.

Investors were mostly active in Textile sector (13.0%), followed by Pharma sector (12.5%) and Bank sector (11.4%). Sectors ended in mixed with Life Insurance sector (2.5%) being the highest gainer, while Financial Institution sector (-1.9%) being the most loser.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended down with its All Share Price Index (CASPI) decreasing 31.86 points to settle at 14497.61 and the Selective Categories Index (CSCX) decreasing 7.85 points to settle at 8794.
