Stocks maintain gaining streak

DHAKA, Feb 23, 2025 (BSS) – Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong 
Stock Exchange (CSE) today also witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their 
buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

 
DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, advanced by 24.0 points or 0.5% to settle at a 2-month high of 5,224 
points, as against. 5,200 points in the previous trading session. 

 
Market analysts observed that buyers maintained their dominance throughout the session as 
optimistic investors kept on chasing the current rallies in sector-specific issues, while price appreciation 
in particular blue-chip scrips added further strength to the market's upward momentum.

 
Meanwhile, market turnover also had a slight increase by 4.7% to Taka 4.9 billion as against Taka 4.7 
billion in the previous session.
 

On the sectoral front, Textile (14.6%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Pharma (11.9%) 
and Engineering (11.7%) sectors. Most of the sectors displayed positive returns, out of which Mutual 
Fund (2.8%), Ceramic (2.5%) and Life Insurance (2.3%) exhibited the most positive returns on the 
bourse today, while Jute (-1.2%), Paper (-0.5%) and Tannery (-0.5%) exerted the most corrections. Out 
of the 397 issues traded, 216 advanced, 122 declined and 59 remained unchanged.
 

The port city bourse, CSE, also witnessed a positive session today. The Selective Categories' Index 
(CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) increased by 9.9 points and 16.1 points, respectively.
