Stocks extend gaining streak

DHAKA, Feb 24, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses--Dhaka Stock Exchange 
(DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today witnessed an upward trend 
like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues 
amid optimism.
 
DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, advanced by 10.6 points or 
0.2% to settle at 5,235 points, as against 5,224 points previous trading 
session. 
 
Market analysts observed that investors continued their chase to take 
positions in the trendy scrips to capitalize on the market's current upbeat 
vibe. 
 
Meanwhile, market turnover also increased by 11.6% to Taka 5.4 billion as 
against Taka 4.9 billion in the previous session.
 
On the sectoral front, Textile (20.1%) Issues exerted the highest turnover, 
followed by Pharma (14.1%) and Food (12.7%) sectors. 
 
Sectors displayed mixed returns, out of which Financial Institutions (1.6%), 
Paper (1.5%) and Travel (2.3%) exhibited the most positive returns on the 
bourse today, while Life Insurance (-0.8%), Mutual Fund (-0.6%) and Telecom 
(-0.3%) exerted the mast corrections. 
 
Out of the 397 issues traded, 172 advanced, 152 declined and 73 remained 
unchanged.
 
The port city bourse, CSE, also witnessed a positive session today. The 
Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) 
increased by 39.0 points and 56.6 points, respectively.
