Tokyo stocks jump more than 3% on US trade deal

TOKYO, July 23, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Tokyo stocks jumped more than three percent on Wednesday, led by gains in auto stocks, after Japan and the United States said they had agreed a trade deal that will lower tariffs, including on vehicles and car parts.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rallied 3.18 percent, or 1,265.74 points, to 41,040.66 yen, while the broader Topix index gained 3.11 percent, or 88.23 points, to 2,924.42 yen.
