DHAKA, July 23, 2025 (BSS) - The government today approved in principle a proposal to procure 2.20 lakh metric tons (MT) of wheat from the United States on a government-to-government (G2G) basis.

The approval came at the 22nd meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Economic Affairs this year, held at the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair. 

The procurement will be made under Section 68(1) of the Public Procurement Act, 2006 and Section 76(2) of the Public Procurement Rules, 2008.
