Price fall in large-cap drives stocks further down

DHAKA, July 28, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - today plunged further due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX the broad index of DSE declined by 22.8 points or 0.4% to settle at 5,332 points as against 5,355 points in the previous trading session. 

On the sectoral front, Bank (25.7%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Textile (9.1%) and Pharmaceutical (9.0%) sectors. Sectors mostly displayed negative returns, out of which General Insurance (-2.6%), Life Insurance (-2.1%) and Ceramic (-1.9%) showed the most corrections on the bourse today. 

Out of the 397 issues traded, 117 advanced, 229 declined and 51 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, also witnessed a profit-booking session today. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declined by 25.3 and 40.0 points, respectively.
