DHAKA, July 30, 2025 (BSS) - The government has formed a 16-member inter-ministerial committee, headed by the Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser's Office, for reviewing the possible measures for enhancing the export competitiveness of four sectors namely leather and leather goods, jute-made goods, agricultural and agri-processed goods and pharmaceuticals sectors.

The Ministry of Finance has issued a notification in this regard.
It said that following the graduation of Bangladesh from the LDCs on November 24, 2026, it would not be possible to provide export-based subsidies or cash incentives.

Considering this context, the inter-ministerial committee has been formed to review the possible measures to enhance the export competitiveness of these four sectors out of the potential and promising sectors.

The Terms of Reference (TOR) of the committee include framing a time-based action plan, identifying what sorts of facilities could be provided from the recommendations to be made in the report considering the capacity of the government.

The committee will submit a report with detailed recommendations after making necessary review while it can co-opt one or more members if necessary.

The other members of the committee include Bangladesh Bank Governor, Finance Secretary, Commerce Secretary, Foreign Affairs Secretary, Industries Secretary, Agriculture Secretary, Textiles and Jute Secretary, Health Services Division Secretary, NBR Chairman, BSTI Director General, Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Vice Chairman, Director General of DGDA, BSCIC Chairman, and FBCCI President. The Director General of Chief Adviser's Office will act as its member secretary.
