DHAKA, Dec 4, 2025 (BSS) - The government has made electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) mandatory through enactment of the Public Procurement Rules, 2025 (PPR, 2025).
For this, there is increased need for arranging training on new rules to disseminate the new provisions so that concerned stakeholders can conduct public procurement abiding by the rules.
Keeping this in view, the Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA) has been arranging training programmes for procuring entities and tenderers.
S. M. Moin Uddin Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer (Secretary) of the BPPA, said this while attending a workshop on the Public Procurement Rules (PPR), 2025 and electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) as the chief guest in Jashore today.
Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Jashore Mohammad Ashek Hasan presided over the session. BPPA Director Afroza Parvin made a presentation on PPR, 2025 where she highlighted various important new rules as well as amended rules and schedules.
A total of over 40 tenderers from Jashore participated in the session, said a press release.
The workshop was organized by the Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA) at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner of Jessore. It was managed by the Bangladesh Center for Communication Programs (BCCP).
Elaborating on the background of the PPR, 2025 and its formulation, the BPPA CEO mentioned that both the PPR, 2025 and amended PPA, 2006 came into effect on September 28, 2025, which is now being disseminated across the country through workshops in districts as well as upazila levels.
Not only through workshops, but those are also disseminated in various ways like newspaper news, advertisements, TV reports and scrolls and also arranging trainings on PPR, 2025 for the trainers.
The PPR, 2025 introduces specific provisions aimed at boosting the engagement of stakeholders in public procurement. Participants described these provisions as highly positive, saying these would increase registration on the e-GP platform and enhance their overall participation in public procurement processes.
Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Jessore Mohammad Ashek Hasan appreciated the BPPA for arranging the workshop in the district and said, “We usually don’t get chance to discuss such a major issue with any high-level government official and so we need to fix things as per our own understanding.”
“We are so glad that BPPA CEO also Secretary of the government has joined a workshop at Jashore district through which procuring entities and tenderers will be greatly benefited.” He added.
BPPA has been conducting such workshops on the PPR 2025 and e-GP across the country for creating awareness and capacity-building.
