DHAKA, Dec 09, 2025 (BSS)  – In a move to streamline financial procedures for the export sector, Bangladesh Bank (BB) mentioned that the discount committee will now consider applications for discount claims against the export of jute goods.

According to a recent directive the government, Authorized Dealers (ADs) are permitted to submit applications for these claims directly to the Discount Committee.

These submissions must be routed through the Foreign Exchange Policy Department of Bangladesh Bank’s Head Office and must comply with all standard formalities and procedures.

This development expands upon existing protocols outlined in paragraph 19(4) of the circular, which already allows Authorized Dealers to submit discount claim applications for shipments of readymade garments and leather goods.

To ensure industry representation in the decision-making process, the Bangladesh Jute Mills Association (BJMA) and the Bangladesh Jute Spinners Association (BJSA) will be co-opted as members of the Discount Committee.

Authorized dealers have been instructed to bring the contents of this circular to the attention of all concerned parties immediately.
