Stocks extend gaining streak

DHAKA, Jan 14, 2026 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)—today extended positive territory for a third consecutive session.

The DSE Broad Index (DSEX) rose by 19.84 points to settle at 4966.51, while the DS30 index, which tracks blue-chip stocks, increased by 9.09 points to reach 1908.21. Additionally, the Shariah-based DSES index saw a gain of 2.21 points, closing the session at 997.91.

Activity on the trading floor involved a total of 12,91,21,711 shares and mutual fund units across 395 companies. The total daily turnover on the DSE stood at Taka 369,67,96,321 Taka. Market breadth remained mixed but leaned positive, with the prices of 174 companies advancing, 134 declining, and 87 remaining unchanged.

In terms of monetary value, the top ten performers were led by ACI, Square Pharma, and City Bank. Other notable contributors to the turnover list included Orion Infusion, Dominage Steel, Saiham Tex, BD Thai Food, Khan Brothers PP, Meghna Insurance, and Crystal Insurance.

The day's top gainers were headlined by BD Thai Food, BD Thai, and Eastern Insurance. They were followed by Khan Brothers PP, CAPM BDBL MF, ICB 3rd NRB, ACI Formulations, Paramount Insurance, Linde BD, and Meghna Insurance. 

On the other hand, the top losers of the session included BIFC, Shyampur Sugar, and Meghna Cement. Other companies facing price declines were Bay Leasing, NCCBL MF-1, Regent Tex, Chartered Life Insurance, Suhrid Industries, HR Textile, and Popular 1st Mutual Fund.

The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on a positive zone. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) increased by 21.46 points and 30.09 points, respectively.
