Gold price rises 2% on Mideast turmoil

TOKYO, March 2, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - The price of gold rose around two percent on Monday on the back of turmoil in the Middle East after US and Israeli strikes on Iran.

In early trade in Asia, gold -- a safe haven for investors in volatile times -- was up 2.0 percent at $5,384.52 per ounce.
