DHAKA, June 10, 2026 (BSS) – Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman today inaugurated a nationwide promotional campaign for "Bangla QR", marking a significant step towards building a more integrated and efficient digital payment ecosystem in the country.

The inauguration ceremony was held on the central bank premises with the participation of chief executives and senior representatives from scheduled banks, Mobile Financial Service (MFS) providers, Payment Service Providers (PSPs) and Payment System Operators (PSOs), said a press release.

Speaking on the occasion, the governor said the campaign aims to raise awareness among customers, merchants and financial institutions about the benefits and operational features of the Bangla QR system.

He noted that the initiative forms part of Bangladesh Bank’s broader strategy to strengthen interbank digital payment services by ensuring convenience, faster transactions, enhanced security and greater financial inclusion.

The central bank has launched the promotional campaign ahead of the nationwide implementation of Bangla QR activities, which is scheduled to begin on July 1, 2026.

Officials said the successful rollout of Bangla QR would play a crucial role in expanding the country’s digital transaction infrastructure and accelerating the adoption of cashless payment methods.

They added that the initiative would contribute significantly to the government's vision of building a Smart Bangladesh through greater technological integration and financial transparency.

Bangladesh Bank will continue extensive awareness and promotional activities in collaboration with banks and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth implementation and widespread adoption of the Bangla QR platform across the country.
