Rally held to protecting communal harmony in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, June 10, 2026 (BSS) - Speakers in a function here today underscored the need for protecting communal harmony and mutual goodwill between Hindu and Muslim anyhow to maintain peace in future. 

They said communal harmony between the Hindus and the Muslims is excellent in the country and this harmony and goodwill cannot be demolished in any circumstances.  There were no conflicts affecting harmony in the upazila in the last 55 years, they added.  

They made the comments while addressing a rally on communal harmony at the hall room of Palashbari upazila administration in the district this morning. 

Local lawmaker Mowlana AKM Nazrul Islam Lebu addressed the rally as the chief guest while UNO Sheikh Jaber Ahmed presided over function. 

Assistant commissioner (Land) and executive magistrate Md. Al –YasarTapadar, assistant police super Sohanur Rahman Sohan, president of BNP upazila unit, Abdus Samad Mondal, upazila ameer of Jmaat Abu Bakar Siddique spoke at the function, among others. 

A good number of Muslim and Hindu religious leaders, civil society members and town elite participated in the rally.
