GOPALGANJ, June 12, 2024 (BSS) - The World Day for the Prevention of Child Labour-2024 was observed in the district today.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) launched the first 'World Day Against Child Labour' in 2002 as a way to highlight the plight of children engaged in child labour.

Observed on June 12th, the day is intended to serve as a catalyst for the growing worldwide movement against child labour, according to the website of ILO.

Marking the day, a rally was brought out from in front of the deputy commissioner office which paraded the important streets and ended at the same place this morning.

After the rally, a discussion was held on the occasion at the conference room of deputy commissioner office with deputy commissioner (DC) Kazi Mahbubul Alam in the chair.

H M Shahadat, Deputy Inspector General of Gopalganj District Office of the Directorate of Inspection of Factories and Establishment presented the main article.

Additional District Magistrate Mossamot Nazmun Nahar, Labour Inspector (General) of Gopalganj District Office of Factories and Establishment Inspection Department Md Rakibul Hasan Limon, Labour Inspector (Safety) Md Jewel Hossain, Labour Inspector (Health) Md Moniruzzaman, Qutub Uddin of JK Polymer, Ripon Roy of Qazi Farms, among others, spoke.

Officials of various departments, heads of factories and institutions, among others, were present.
