CHATTOGRAM, June 13, 2024 (BSS) - A Chattogram court here today awarded life-term imprisonment to a man for killing his wife over dowry 11 years back.
The court of additional district and session Judge-2 Sarwar Alam delivered the judgment today convicting Saiful Islam hailed from Zorargonj area of the district.

The court also fined him Tk 10,000, in default, he has to suffer six months more imprisonment.

According to the prosecution story, Saiful Islam hacked his wife Nazma Akter to death over dowry on June 18, 2013. Police recovered the body from his residence on the same day.

Victim’s younger brother filed a murder case with Zorergonj police station on the same day against him and police submitted charge sheet before the court against Saiful.

The court today announced the verdict after examining a total of 15 witnesses out of 21 in presence of the convicted person.
