TANGAIL, June 21, 2024 (BSS) - Two people were killed and eight others injured in a head-on collision between a car and a passenger-carrying Mahindra vehicle on the Tangail-Mymensingh highway in Malaubari area under Madhupur upazila of the district today.

The deceased were identified as Kamrul Islam, resident of Zainabazar area of Sreepur Police Station in Gazipur. The identity of another victim could not be known immediately.
 
The accident occurred when a private car was going to Tangail Sadar from Madhupur upazila. On the way, the private car collided head-on with a Mahindra vehicle coming from the opposite direction around 9:30 am this morning, leaving one passenger of the Mahindra dead on the spot and nine others injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Madhupur Police Station Molla Azizur Rahman said.

The injured were rushed to Upazila Health Complex, where one of them died on way to the hospital, he said.

The other injured were referred to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital for better treatment.

After completing the legal procedures, the bodies will be handed over to their relatives, the OC added.
