CHATTOGRAM, June 24, 2024 (BSS) - A Chattogram court sentenced life term rigorous imprisonment to a drug trader for trading drug in 2013.

The court of the 4th Chattogram Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Shoriful Islam Bhuiyan awarded the punishment to drug trader Hasan Sharif, hailed from city’s City Gate area.

The court also awarded TK 10,000 as fine to him, in default, he will have to suffer more one year imprisonment.

According to the prosecution story is in brief that acting on a tip-off. a team of Pahartali  thana  detained the drug trader with 40 Bottles Phensidyle syrup from the said area on February 10, 2013.

A case was filed with Pahartali Thana against the drug trader on same day.  

Police submitted a charge sheet against the arrested trader before the court on March 4 in 2013 while the court framed charges against him on June 19, 2014.

The court announced the verdict in absence of the convicted person after examining a total of five prosecution witnesses out of 10.
