Ratha Jatra festival to begin on July 7 in Ctg

CHATTORAM, June 30, 2024 (BSS)-All preparations have been completed for the celebration of a-nine day long Rathajatra festival, one of the major festivals of the Hindu community, which will begin here amidst solemn devotion and massive festivity on July 7 next.

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) leaders in a press conference put 9-point demands including declaration of one-day public holiday for Rath Yatra, to change the schedule of the HSC English second paper examination on the Ratha Jatra day and implementation of promises for minorities announced in previous national election manifestos.

The demands were placed by Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, Principal of Sri Sri Pundrik Dham, held at ISKCON temple in city’s Probartak Sanga yesterday.

Chinmoy Krishna Das informed the journalists that all preparations including road selection of rallies, confirmation of guest’s participations, selection of different religious symbols for rallies have been completed.

He also disclosed that Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud will attend the inaugural function as chief guests on July 7.

Besides, City Mayor M Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, former mayor AJM Nashir Uddin, CMP Commissioner, diplomats and people from various professions will participate in the event. The nine-day event will conclude on July 15 with an Ulto Ratha Jatra procession.
