MYMENSINGH, July 31, 2024 (BSS) - Two people were killed in a collision between a bus and a battery-run auto-rickshaw on the Mymensingh-Sherpur road in Kakni Bazar area under Tarakanda upazila of the district today.

The deceased were identified as  driver of the battery-run auto-rickshaw Harunur Rashid, 40, son of late Abbas Ali of Tenguliakanda and Sohel Mia, 28, son of late Abdur Rashid of Nalchapra area of ??the upazila.

The accident occurred in the area when a Dhaka-bound bus of Janani Paribahan from Bakshiganj collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction around 7am, leaving two people, including the auto-rickshaw driver, dead on the spot. At the same time, the bus driver lost control over the steering and entered a shop, sub-inspector (SI) of Tarakanda Police Station Sajib Kumar Das said.

Police recovered the bodies from the spot, he said.

Legal action is under process in this connection, the SI added.
