A fugitive AL leader held in Ctg

Chattogram, Jan 4 , 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested Nazim Uddin Haider, joint secretary of Karnaphuli upazila Awami League (AL) from Dangarchar area of the upazila   last night.

Acting on a tip off, a police team conducted a drive at around 8.30 pm in the area while he was trying to flee from a secret meeting with his cohorts, Officer-in Charge (OC) of Karnaphuli police Muhammad Sharif told BSS .

Nazim Uddin, former acting president of the upazila Jubo League who had been fugitive was implicated in a case filed with Karnaphuli police station for his involvement in an attack on a rally of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in new market area under Kotwali police station on August 4 last year. 

Police confirmed his involvement through scrutinizing many photographs and video footages, he said. 

Nazim, son of Rashid Ahmed master of Charlakkha union of Karnaphuli  upazila, was at large since fall  of Sheikh Hasina’s government  on August 5, OC said adding that he was handed over to Kotwali police station today.
