Two killed in separate road accidents in Thakurgaon

THAKURGAON, Jan 4, 2025 (BSS) - Two people, including a schoolteacher, were 
killed in separate road accidents in Pirganj and Sadar upazilas of the 
district today.

The victims were Tijammin Sahnaj Rebu, 48, assistant teacher of a primary 
school and wife of Toabur Rahman, a resident of Mitrabati area of Pirganj 
upazila and Mamunur Rashid, 35, a resident of Velajar area of Sadar upazila.

A schoolteacher was killed when a minibus hit an auto-rickshaw in front of 
Pirganj Police Station this morning. Auto-rickshaw passenger teacher died on 
the spot, said Tajul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Pirganj police station.

Rebu met the accident while going to visit her uncle after hearing the news 
of his death in a road accident at the same area on Friday, the OC added.

In another accident, a motorcycle rider was killed when a pickup van hit his 
bike in Salondar area of Sadar upazila this morning.

Police said the accident took place on Thakurgaon-Gareya road when a pickup 
van hit a motorcycle, leaving its rider Mamunur injured critically.

He was sent to Thakurgaon General Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him 
dead.
