MANIKGANJ, Jan 5, 2025 (BSS) - Ferry movement on the Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River remained suspended from the early hours on Sunday due to poor visibility as the dense fog blanketed the river route, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Patura Ghat sources said.

Deputy General Manager (DGM) BIWTC Paturia Ghat Nasir Mahmud Chowdhury said ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route had been suspended since 1 a.m. Sunday.

Ferries -- Bir Shrestha Ruhul Amin, Hasna Hena, Shah Poran and Faridpur -- are waiting at Paturia Ghat loaded with vehicles and passengers.

Bir Shrestha Motiur Rahman, Bhasha Shaheed Dr. Golam Maula, Keramat Ali and Bonolota are at Daulatdia Ghat and two ferries were anchored in the middle of the Padma.

Aricha-Kazirhat ferry services were also suspended for dense fog.

BIWTC Aricha Ghat sources said ferry movement will start as soon as the dense fog disappears.
