4 held with huge drugs in Rangpur, Lalmonirhat

RANGPUR, Jan 22, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 in separate drives arrested four presumed drug traders with huge drugs from different areas in Rangpur and Lalmonirhat districts on Tuesday.

 "The seized drugs include 25 kilograms of ganja and 934 bottles of smuggled phensedyl," said separate press releases issued here by Senior Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-13 and Additional Superintendent of Police Abul Hasan today.

 On a tip-off, an operational team of RAB-13 searched a van cart at the Mohipur Bridge area in Gangachara upazila of Rangpur and arrested one person with 299 bottles of phensedyl from the spot at 12:40 pm.
 
The detainee was identified as Md Zahidul Islam, 26, son of late Nur Islam of village Uttar Zaurari in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat district.

 Another operational team of RAB-13 in a raid seized 537 bottles of phensedyl and arrested one person from Purbo Bichhondoi village in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat district at 4:55 pm.

 The arrested person was identified as Md Zannatun Nayeem, 19, son of Md Rezaul Islam of village Purbo Bichhondoi village in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat district. 

 As per information received from detainee Zannatun Nayeem, the elite force conducted another raid and seized 25 kilograms of ganja and arrested Shyamoli Khatun, 27, wife of Farhadul Islam from her house in the same village at 5:40 pm.

 Yet in another raid, the elite force seized 98 bottles of phensedyl and arrested Md Rezaul Karim, 32, son of Md Ala Mia from village Motukpur in Gangachara upazila of Rangpur at 4:10 pm.

The elite force handed over the arrested persons to the concerned police stations in Rangpur and Lalmonirhat districts for further legal actions, the releases added.
