DHAKA, Nov 4, 2025 (BSS) - Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain has called for strengthening collaboration between Bangladesh and Turkiye in trade, investment and defence, reaffirming Dhaka's commitment to deepen the historic friendship between the two nations.

The Adviser made the remarks when a five-member Turkish parliamentary delegation, led by Mehmet Akif Yilmaz, Chairperson of the Bangladesh-Trkiye Parliamentary Friendship Group, paid a courtesy call on him at the foreign ministry here on Monday, said a press release here today.

Welcoming the delegation, the Adviser thanked Turkiye for its continued support to address the humanitarian needs of the displaced Rohingya population.

The delegation had earlier visited the Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar from November 1-2 to review Turkish humanitarian programmes there.

Hossain also sought greater opportunities for Bangladeshi students in Turkish universities and urged Turkiye to recruit more skilled and semi-skilled professionals from Bangladesh.

The Adviser informed that the government has recently approved the establishment of a branch of the Yunus Emre Institute in Bangladesh, expressing hope that it would further strengthen people-to-people ties.

Mehmet Akif Yilmaz appreciated Bangladesh's management of the Rohingya crisis and described Bangladesh as a brotherly nation.

He assured the Turkish Parliament's continued solidarity and cooperation with Bangladesh in all areas of mutual interest.

Turkiye Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen also attended the meeting.
