Two inter-district robbers held in Khulna

KHULNA, Jan 23, 2025 (BSS) - Two alleged inter-district robbers were held with huge lethal weapons from the Moyur Bridge area under Sonadanga Police Station in the city.

The arrestees are Mijanur Rahman, alias Mijan Sheikh, 35, and Yead Ali, 32, both hailing from Bagerhat district.

On a tip-off, a police team set up a checkpost in the aforesaid area and signalled a pickup van to stop noticing its suspicious movement last night. But the vehicle violated the signal and tried to escape from the spot, said Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonadanga police station.

After chasing, the police team halted the vehicle and arrested the two people. Subsequently, police recovered huge lethal weapons after searching the pickup van.

Eight criminal cases, including robbery and piracy, are pending with different police stations against them.
