3 held with smuggled drugs in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Jan 24, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 in two separate drives arrested three alleged drug traders with huge drugs from different areas in Rangpur district last night. 

"The seized drugs include 23 kilograms of ganja and 199 bottles of phensedyl," said a press release issued here by Senior Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-13 and Additional Superintendent of Police Abul Hasan today.
 
On a tip-off, an operational team of RAB-13 searched a three-wheeler at SK Bazar in Purbo Echli village under Gangachara upazila of Rangpur and arrested one person with 199 bottles of phensedyl from the spot.
 
The detainee was identified as Md Rintu, 35, son of Shamsul Haque of village Purbo Sindurna in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat district.
 
Another operational team of RAB-13 in a raid searched a truck, seized 23 kilograms of ganja and the truck used for carrying smuggled ganja and arrested two persons from Ershad Nagar area in Rangpur metropolis.
 
The arrested persons were identified as truck driver Md Manik Mian, 40, son of late Abdul Mannan of village Kachhna in Haragachh police station and helper Md Tofazzal Hossain, 27, son of Aynal Haque of village Panjarbhanga in Kawnia upazila of Rangpur district.
 
The elite force handed over the arrested persons to the concerned police stations in Rangpur district for further legal actions, the release added.
