Madrasa student drowns in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, March 19, 2025 (BSS) - A 15-year-old madrasa student drowned in a pond at the Kashempur Madinatul Ulum Qawmi Madrasa and Orphanage in Sadar upazila here in the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Md. Russel, son of Faruk Hossain, a resident in Alipur Hatkhola area of the upazila.

Family and local sources said Russel drowned while taking bath with other students around 10 am.

Madrasa teachers later recovered his body from the pond.

Saminul Haque, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Satkhira Sadar Police Station, confirmed the incident and said Russell's body was handed over to his family.
