DHAKA, August 28, 2025 (BSS) - Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Ansar, Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud, has said the upazila and thana-level Ansar companies will soon be reorganized to enhance their effectiveness in maintaining law and order and ensuring internal security.

Speaking while inspecting a training course at BCSIR School and College in the capital on Wednesday, the DG emphasized the vital role of Ansar companies at grassroots levels. The training program was organized by Dhaka Metropolitan Ansar South Zone.

"The upazila and thana-level companies are a key part of the force's efforts to combat social crime and ensure internal peace," he said.

However, he pointed out that the organizational structure at these levels has weakened due to inadequate training and lack of continuity. To address this, he stressed the need to restructure and standardize the embodied Ansar units as part of ongoing reforms.

The DG further said Ansar members should be integrated into a broader national security framework, enabling them to work collaboratively with other forces.

"With the right training and a clear understanding of their duties, these members can become competent and patriotic representatives of the Ansar and VDP," he said.

He also highlighted a shift away from traditional practices, stating that the force is now being equipped with fresh, morally upright, and physically fit recruits. These young members are being trained to uphold the laws of the land with integrity and dedication.

The ongoing training, which began on August 26, will continue until January 10 next year, conducted in eight phases. Each phase spans 14 days, aiming to train a total of 52,183 Ansar members across the country.
