One held with 32 kg venison in Mongla

BAGERHAT, Nov 26, 2025 (BSS) - A joint team of Coast Guard and Police in a drive arrested a poacher with 32 kg of venison from Mongla upazila of the district early this morning.

On a tip-off, a joint team conducted a raid in Kanainagar area under Mongla Police Station around 1 am and arrested a suspected deer hunter and recovered 32 kg of venison and 2,000 meters of illegal hunting traps, said Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, confirming the matter this afternoon. 

The seized items and the detained individual have been handed over to Mongla Police Station for further legal proceedings, officials said.

Anti-poaching operations have been intensified in the region to curb wildlife trafficking and protect the biodiversity of the Sundarbans.
