National Livestock Week begins in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, Nov 26, 2025 (BSS) - The National Livestock Week-2025 began in Bagerhat today with colourful programmes.

The programme started with a colorful rally circled various roads of the city in the morning.

Inspection of livestock fair stalls and a discussion meeting, held under the theme "Indigenous breeds, modern technology - progress in livestock".

Deputy Commissioner Golam Md Baten, addressing the opening ceremony as chief guest, said the livestock sector is a key pillar of nutrition, employment and the rural economy. 

He also said the combined advancement of indigenous breeds and modern technologies will help strengthen the sector.

Speakers at the event stressed research, technology transfer, conservation of local breeds and greater cooperation among farmers.

District Livestock Officer Mohammad Saheb Ali presided over the programme, attended by officials, farmers and representatives of various organisations.

The week-long observance includes seminars, training sessions, healthcare camps and awareness activities.
