Child drowns in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, Dec 12, 2025 (BSS) - A two-year-old boy tragically drowned after falling into a canal of the Nalua River near his home in Chitalmari upazila on Thursday morning.The deceased was identified as Tishan Baroi, son of Santosh Baroi of the same village.

Family sources said the child's mother was occupied with household chores when the boy wandered toward the nearby canal. After noticing his absence, the family began searching for him and later found him floating in the water.

He was immediately taken to Mollahat Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty physician pronounced him dead.

The sudden death has plunged the family and the locality into mourning. Locals said the open water bodies near homes pose risks for children and stressed the need for preventive measures and awareness to avoid such incidents.
