Man gets life term in drug case in Narail

NARAIL, March 19, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment in a drug case.

The convict is Abdul Motaleb, 67, son of late Abul Kalam Sheikh of Uttarpara-Tupuria village under Kotalipara upazila in Gopalganj district.

Narail Additional District and Sessions Court Judge Muhammad Shahinur Rahman handed down the verdict this afternoon.

The court also fined the elderly man Tk 20,000, in default, he will have to suffer six months more in jail, said Advocate Kazi Ziaur Rahman Pikul, additional public prosecutor (APP) of the court.

According to the case statement, Motaleb was arrested in an anti-narcotics drive with 67 bottles of phensidyl in his possession in the district town on January 10, 2012.

A case was registered under the Narcotics Control Act with Narail Sadar Police Station in this regard.
