Smuggler held with gold worth over Tk 37.67 lack in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, March 19, 2025 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested a smuggler with two gold bars worth  Taka 37, 67000 from Binerpata of Satkhira district.

The arrestee was identified as Yunus Hawlader, 55, son of deceased Abdul Motaleb Hawlader hailing from South Kutubkhali area in Jatrabari, Dhaka. 

Acting on a tip-off, DB police conducted a drive in front of Binerpata traffic box in Satkhira Sadar Upazila on Tuesday evening and arrested Yunus near the bypass when he got off the transport. 

During a body search, police recovered two veiled gold bars, weighing 291.25 grams, from his waist and cash amounting to 39,000 Taka, district DB Inspector Nijam Uddin Molla said. 

The arrestee was handed over to Satkhira Police station and a case was filed in this connection, he added.
