Meeting held to ensure safe, smooth movement of passengers during Eid

CHANDPUR, March 19, 2025 (BSS) - A view-exchange meeting was held 
today to ensure safety of passengers on the Chandpur-Dhaka waterway on the 
occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The meeting was held at the Chandpur Launch Ghat this afternoon with launch 
owners, workers and CNG drivers.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mohsin Uddin attended the meeting as the 
chief guest with Chandpur Naval Area Superintendent of Police Syed Mushfiqur 
Rahman in the chair.

The deputy commissioner said that no launch without fitness certificate will be 
allowed to ply after March 26 and strict action will be taken against excessive 
fares and harassment of passengers.

To maintain discipline, there will be plainclothes police, CCTV cameras, and four 
Ansars in each launch, he said.

Bulkhead movement will be banned for the next 15 days and movement of speed 
boats will be halted at night.

He also said that a regular magistrate will be deployed at the launch ghat for five  
days before and after Eid. 

Coast Guard Station Commander Sub-Lieutenant Md. Fazlul Haque, Launch 
Owners Association representative Ruhul Amin Howlader and Traffic In-charge 
Babu Lal Bouddha were present, among others.

Additional Naval Police Superintendent Imtiaz Ahmed conducted the meeting.

The meeting sought cooperation from everyone regarding all kinds of facilities 
and security for the passengers so that the passengers can travel safely on the river 
route.
