Two held with 211-kg hemp in Kishoreganj

KISHOREGANJ, April 8, 2025 (BSS)- The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)in a drive today arrested two alleged drug dealers with 211 kilograms of hemp worth about Taka 42.29 lakh from Newtown Sirir Mour area under Bhairab Pourashava of the district.

The arrested were identified as Md. Bashir Mia, 33, son of the late Abdul Monnaf Bhuiya, of Mirashani Moddopara area of Bijoynagar upazila in Brahmanbaria district and Md. Shahin, 30, son of Md. Sofi Mia, hailed from Sarail upazila of the same district. 

According to a RAB press release, signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (Asp)Md. Abdul Hye Chowdhury, commander of Bhairab RAB-14 camp, a team of the elite force conducted a raid in the area and nabbed the duo with the contraband hemp.

The RAB team also seized two android mobile phone sets and a microbus, which is used in carrying the drugs, from their possession, the release added. 

ASP Abdul Hye Chowdhury said, "A case has been filed with Bhairab Thana in this connection and the activities of handing over the accused and the seized goods is under process."
